The follow information is important to those who are unfamiliar with the kiln dried firewood process at Green Thumb Farms. The firewood pieces are placed in a kiln drying oven and dried at temperatures in excess of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. It's maintained at that temperature for at least 75 minutes and dried down to 10-15% moisture content. The firewood pieces are removed for subsequent distribution, bundling and use. The kiln dried firewood pieces have an outer layer of a moisture content which is sufficiently low to permit igniting of the firewood with ignited paper or without requiring the use of kindling wood.
